About Us
Gold Coast Rugby Union Football Club (Eagles) was the foundation club for Gold Coast Rugby and played its first game in the Brisbane Competition in 1965. From humble beginnings, the Eagles is now home to hundreds of junior and senior players. The Club has produced more Wallabies and Queensland Reds players than any other Club on the Gold Coast. Our aim is to provide a club for lovers of exciting rugby, where the spirit of rugby is promoted and grown and the game is played to provide pleasure to players and spectators.
The Gold Coast Rugby Union Football Club was based at Rudd Park, Burleigh Heads prior to 1972, until the Overell family provided the land on Brighton Parade at Southport, on the basis of a rugby club being based and playing at what is now James Overell Park.
